Hosted by three units (CETL, CME and the Chief Diversity Officer), the President’s Diversity Common Read kicks off this semester with “White Rage” by Carol Anderson. All members of the campus community are welcome to participate, and need only sign up with a set of facilitators by 9 a.m. on September 18, 2018. (See options below). Please sign up by sending an email to the listed facilitator of the group you’d like to join. Books will be provided, and you’ll receive an email when they have arrived.
Common reads have become increasing popular on college campuses, and are an excellent way to foster understanding of a particular subject, create new learning spaces, and develop a culture that is more welcoming of differences.
We’re looking forward to a Common Read that leads to robust discussion, and learning more about our nation’s history and about ourselves. Please join us!
We’re also excited to announce that the Common Read will be capped by “The Race Card Project,” a presentation by Michele Norris, on January 30, 2018. More information will be available as plans are solidified.
